Registered Nurse (PRN) - L&D - $48.75/hr - Marrero, LA
About The Position
VitalHire is seeking a per diem/PRN Registered Nurse specializing in Labor & Delivery at a short-term acute care facility in Marrero, Louisiana. Nurses select available shifts through an app, with instant confirmations. The role offers day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. or night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m., each lasting 12 hours, at $48.75 per hour. The nurse will coordinate and deliver patient care during labor and delivery, monitor maternal and fetal status, assist with deliveries, and provide postpartum care. The role also involves responding to obstetrical emergencies, collaborating with the multidisciplinary care team, maintaining a safe environment, communicating significant changes and concerns, and supporting patient and family education.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of consecutive acute care Labor & Delivery experience within the last 5 years.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active, unencumbered Louisiana Board of Registered Nursing RN license or compact license.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Active ACLS certification.
- Active NRP certification for Labor & Delivery.
- Epic charting experience.
- Negative TB test within the last 12 months.
- Hepatitis B series or titer.
- MMR series or titer.
- Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years or titer.
- Varicella series or titer.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure appropriate direct patient care.
- Maintain and advocate for a safe environment.
- Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and appropriate care team members about significant events, changes in patient condition, questions, and concerns.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status during labor, assist with deliveries, and provide postpartum care.
- Recognize and respond to obstetrical emergencies.
- Monitor and follow Joint Commission infection control and environment-of-care requirements.
- Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional patient experience.
- Consult with a supervisor when unable to complete assignments or perform tasks promptly, effectively, or safely.
- Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
