About The Position
VitalHire is hiring a per diem (PRN) Registered Nurse for its Neuro ICU in Marrero, Louisiana, at a rate of $48.75 per hour. Per diem nurses select available shifts through an app, with instant confirmations to lock in shifts as far in advance as availability allows. The facility is a short-term acute care facility. The position offers 12-hour day shifts from 6:45 a.m. to 7:15 p.m. or night shifts from 6:45 p.m. to 7:15 a.m. The nurse will coordinate and deliver patient care, work with a multidisciplinary team, maintain a safe environment, communicate significant events and changes in patient condition, support patients and families, and help ensure continuity and quality of care.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of consecutive acute care experience within the specialty during the last 5 years.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active, unencumbered Louisiana Board of Registered Nursing RN license or compact license.
- Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
- Active ACLS certification, required for ICU roles among other listed specialties.
- NIHSS certification for ICU roles.
- Epic charting experience required.
- Negative TB test within the last 12 months.
- Hepatitis B series or titer.
- MMR series or titer.
- Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years or titer.
- Varicella series or titer.
Responsibilities
- Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate all care touchpoints for assigned patients.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide appropriate direct patient care.
- Maintain and advocate for a safe environment.
- Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and appropriate care team members about significant events, changes in patient condition, and questions or concerns.
- Prevent and treat wounds.
- Monitor and carry out Joint Commission infection-control and environment-of-care requirements.
- Ensure continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communications, and an exceptional patient experience.
- Consult with a supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be completed promptly, effectively, or safely.
- Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
