About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for SIH patients in the Birthing Center. The role includes assessing patient needs, developing and carrying out individualized care plans with the multidisciplinary health care team, providing education and counseling, and advocating for patients and families. The nurse also documents care, supports patient safety and quality initiatives, supervises or delegates to specified personnel, and completes required education, competencies, and licensure.
Requirements
- Associate, diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Nursing.
- Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
- BLS certification.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
- Establish a compassionate environment that provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate an individual plan of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
- Provide health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain patients’ optimum health.
- Use clinical judgment and critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
- Complete accurate and timely documentation in the patient medical record.
- Provide input into the development of policies and procedures that support patient safety and quality of care.
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistant personnel.
- Advocate for patients by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals.
- Complete required education, competencies, and licensure in a timely manner.
