About The Position

Charter House, Mayo Clinic’s retirement community in downtown Rochester, Minnesota, provides assisted living and short-term rehabilitation in a resident-focused community. The Registered Nurse delivers person-centered care according to Mayo Clinic standards, serving residents across multiple care settings. The role combines direct care, supervision of nursing care provided by professional and ancillary staff, interdisciplinary collaboration, and accurate documentation of skilled interventions. Nurses contribute to resident safety and well-being while helping meet care, education, and discharge needs in collaboration with residents, families, and the health care team. The position offers self-scheduling, around-the-clock staffing and on-site resources, interdisciplinary teamwork, and access to Mayo Clinic career development and benefits. A $3,000 hiring incentive is currently offered to eligible candidates hired through December 31, 2026. External candidates may qualify for sign-on incentives; internal Mayo Clinic employees are not eligible. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates. The position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, and Mayo Clinic does not participate in the F-1 STEM extension program.

Requirements

Graduate of an ACEN-accredited associate’s degree or diploma nursing program.
If the nursing program was not ACEN-accredited, at least one year of RN experience within the last five years in an applicable care setting is required.
If graduation was more than two years ago, one year of RN experience in an applicable care setting or one year of current LPN experience at Mayo Clinic is required.
Active Minnesota Registered Nurse license.
Basic Cardiac Life Support certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association, Red Cross, or Military Training Network.
Availability to attend required orientation: Mayo Clinic Orientation on the start date from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., followed by seven weekdays of Charter House orientation and training from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Ability to work independently.
Strong commitment to teamwork, communication, and resident-centered care.
Excellent communication and human relations skills for interacting with Health Service and Charter House staff.
Strong problem-solving skills, including collecting, comparing, sorting, and prioritizing information for decision-making for groups of residents and employees.
Ability to adapt to unpredictable situations and stress.
Ability to work flexible hours, which may include days, evenings, nights, holidays, and weekends.

Responsibilities

Deliver person-centered nursing care in alignment with Mayo Clinic standards, including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Provide direct resident care and monitor and manage residents’ health needs across care settings, including Individualized Health Services, Catered Living, and Enhanced Living.
Supervise nursing care provided by the professional and ancillary nursing team across care settings.
Collaborate with residents, families, and interdisciplinary health care teams to assess and plan for care, education, safety, well-being, and discharge needs.
Accurately document skilled interventions to reflect clinical judgment and resident needs.
Attend all required Mayo Clinic and Charter House orientation sessions.
