About The Position

As a Registered Nurse, you will utilize your clinical expertise, technical skills, and professional judgment to provide exceptional care to our patients. This role focuses on direct patient care in procedure rooms and across various fertility treatments, including IVF clinics, IUI programs, and recovery room duties. You'll work independently within clinic protocols to assess patients, interpret test results, and manage treatments with compassion and precision.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current registration with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA) in good standing.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multitask and reprioritize.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Professionalism and a high degree of empathy and sensitivity in patient interactions.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification preferred
  • Previous experience in women’s health and/or operating room nursing is preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years of acute care experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collect detailed patient histories (objective and subjective) and ensure proper details are communicated and documented appropriately.
  • Act on patient results in accordance with Regional Fertility Program protocols and standards of care and RN scope of practice as defined by CRNA.
  • Arrange appointments and testing as directed by clinic physicians, relay results and plan from physician to patient.
  • Document all nursing activities in patient records.
  • Evaluate patient response to procedures/teaching and modify care plan as indicated.
  • Assist the physician with procedures such as transvaginal oocyte retrieval, embryo transfer, cyst aspiration, culdocentesis, endometrial biopsy, etc.
  • Participate in the delivery of nursing care to pre/post-op patients.

  • IV initiation, intramuscular and subcutaneous injection and injection teaching
  • Vital sign monitoring and ongoing physical assessments as required
  • Perform limited transabdominal ultrasound for embryo transfer procedures.
  • Perform nursing and medically delegated procedures in accordance with the Regional Fertility Program standards of care and within the scope of practice of Registered Nurses as defined by CRNA.
  • Participate in the orientation of new staff.
  • Participate in a collaborative practice with other members of the health care team.
  • Participate in regular nursing and department meetings
  • Participate in research programs as directed by medical staff.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Assurance by collecting information as requested. Identify professional learning needs and maintain a competency record as indicated by CARNA and RFP policy.
