The Registered Nurse works in the Imaging Center Prep and Recovery area, supporting 22 bays for the Cath Lab, Ep Lab, and Interventional Radiology. This is a full-time benefited position scheduled for 40 hours per week (1.0 FTE) on day shift, with no weekends or holidays. The unit operates weekdays from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Assignments use a 2:1 patient-to-nurse ratio. The department also offers full- and part-time positions with 8-, 10-, or 12-hour shifts. The nurse prepares patients for procedures by completing checklists and verifying allergies, medications, and laboratory values against procedure guidelines. Preparation may also include neurological and pulse checks, shaving, and pre-procedure antibiotics. Recovery duties include monitoring vital signs, incision sites, and dressings; educating patients on discharge instructions; and monitoring patients during procedure-specific bedrest. Recovery may also include post-procedure neurological, pulse, and groin checks, as well as sheath pulling. Procedures may involve sedation ranging from mild sedation to general anesthesia. The position requires a current Michigan nursing license, graduation from an accredited nursing program, and BLS certification. Under the stated policy, new hires effective January 1, 2013, must have a BSN or agree in writing to obtain one within five years of hire. BLS and ACLS are required for procedures in all areas.
