About The Position
Do you want to use your nursing expertise to support individuals with wide-ranging health needs in a secure facility? As a Registered Nurse with the Department of Corrections (DOC), you will provide essential treatment and guidance to help inmates maintain and improve their health at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Albion. This role allows you to build strong clinical skills through direct care and continuous learning. You will contribute to safe, effective, and patient-centered services every day. Requirements
- Active authorization to practice as a Registered Nurse in Pennsylvania
- If possessing an active temporary practice permit, must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within one (1) year
- Proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license at the time of appointment
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA
- Ability to perform essential job functions
- Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements

- Within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply
Responsibilities
- Assess inmate needs, administer medications, perform treatments, and support daily living activities
- Check vital signs, assist with examinations, and provide education and counseling
- Deliver first aid, CPR, and other urgent care when needed
- Complete reports, update electronic health records, and maintain controlled substance documentation
- Sterilize instruments and maintain adequate stock in treatment areas
- Share information during shift reports and notify staff of medical concerns
