The Registered Nurse (RN) Clinical Float Pool assesses, analyzes, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care according to the organization’s patient-care standards, including standards for patient assessment and transfer. The role requires flexibility to float to departments and sites throughout the organization’s markets, based on hiring tier and competency. Assignments may include day-of staffing, more than one location during a shift, travel assignments, or seasonal staffing patterns. The nurse works as a member of the healthcare team under the direction of a clinical manager or designee and within the applicable Standards and Scope of Practice for Registered Nurses. Float expectations are tiered: Tier 1 covers a single site, Tier 2 multiple sites within one market, and Tier 3 multiple sites across more than one market. The nurse supports departmental and operating-unit goals, participates in quality improvement, advocates for patient safety, applies the professional practice model, plans and coordinates evidence-informed nursing care, and develops and implements patient-specific care plans with appropriate interventions, evaluation, and documentation. The position is associated with the Med Surg–Orthopedic Unit at West Hospital. It is scheduled for 36 hours per week on days/evenings. Required qualifications include an associate degree in nursing, a current nursing license in the state of employment, BLS certification, and one year of acute-care RN experience. ACLS and PALS certification from the American Heart Association are required based on specialty assignment. A BSN and EPIC electronic health record training are preferred.
