Registered Nurse- Pre-op/PACU- PRN
About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) supports pre-op, PACU, and stepdown patient care at St. Francis Ambulatory Surgery Center, an outpatient surgery center in Midlothian, Virginia. The center has two operating rooms and one procedure room and provides outpatient surgical care across multiple specialties. Owned and operated in partnership with BSMH and Compass Surgical Partners, it combines advanced technology with compassionate, patient-centered care. The RN assesses patients, delivers individualized nursing care, monitors recovery, and collaborates with the surgical team to support safe, efficient procedures and optimal outcomes. This is an on-site PRN role during Monday–Friday day shifts. The targeted hire date is January 4, 2027.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current, unencumbered RN license.
- At least one year of pre-op/PACU nursing experience within the last 3–5 years.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certification is required within six months.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Able to meet the stated physical and work-environment requirements, including frequent standing, walking, lifting, and manual dexterity, and exposure to surgical environments, equipment, and patient care areas.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in perioperative settings.
- Monitor patient status and respond to changes during recovery.
- Document accurately and communicate effectively with team members and patients.
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to safety protocols.
- Support patient education and post-operative instructions.
