About The Position
The Registered Nurse (RN) supports pre-op, PACU, and stepdown patient care at Baystate New England Orthopedic Surgery Center, an ambulatory surgery center in Springfield, Massachusetts. The center provides outpatient surgical care across specialties including orthopedics, sports medicine, and podiatry. The RN assesses patients, delivers individualized nursing care, monitors recovery, and collaborates with the surgical team to support safe, efficient procedures and optimal outcomes. The schedule is Monday through Friday on a PRN basis.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current, unencumbered RN license.
- Current BLS certification; ACLS certification is required within 6 months.
- At least 1 year of experience in a pre-op/PACU environment.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
- Frequent standing, walking, lifting, and manual dexterity are required.
- Work involves exposure to surgical environments, equipment, and patient care areas.
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in perioperative settings.
- Monitor patient status and respond to changes during recovery.
- Document accurately and communicate effectively with team members and patients.
- Maintain sterile environments and adhere to safety protocols.
- Support patient education and provide post-operative instructions.
