Registered Nurse- Pre-op/PACU- PRN
About The Position
The Registered Nurse supports pre-op, OR, PACU, and stepdown patient care at Orthopaedic Institute Surgery Center in Metropolis, Illinois. The role involves assessing patients, delivering individualized nursing care, monitoring recovery, and collaborating with the surgical team to help ensure safe and efficient procedures and optimal outcomes. The center provides outpatient orthopaedic surgical care, including sports medicine, joint replacements, spine, and plastic surgery. The position is described as per diem during Monday through Friday; the posting also lists full-time Monday–Friday hours of 7:00 AM–4:30 PM, which may vary based on center needs.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited RN program.
- Current, unencumbered Illinois RN license.
- Current BLS certification.
- ACLS certification required within 6 months.
- Strong clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills.
Nice To Haves
- Membership in the Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN).
Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in perioperative settings.
- Monitor patient status and respond to changes during recovery.
- Document accurately and communicate effectively with team members and patients.

- Support patient education and post-operative instructions.
