About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Progressive Care Unit is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the health care team, the nurse coordinates patient care and communicates and collaborates extensively with other members of the healthcare team, patients, and patients’ families or significant others. The nurse maintains and demonstrates high standards of professional ethics. This is a regular, full-time, on-site position at Virtua Health’s Voorhees location, with a 12-hour day shift and 36 total weekly hours.

Requirements

Valid New Jersey RN license; approved licenses must be presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Stay current in nursing practice through ongoing education, journals, and other means.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimes.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety issues.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental-level competencies.
