Registered Nurse - Complex Intervention Unit - RN

Mayo Clinic•Rochester, MN
•Onsite

About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) works in the Complex Intervention Unit, a 10-bed secured medical/surgical unit for adult patients with multiple comorbidities and complex medical/surgical and behavioral health needs. The unit is designed to safely care for patients at increased risk of harming themselves or others, including patients who may display verbal or physical aggression. Nurses use early intervention and a holistic approach to care. Staff may have the future opportunity to join the Department of Nursing’s behavioral emergency response team. The RN coordinates nursing care, including direct patient care, patient and family education, and transitions of care. Within Mayo Clinic’s Nursing Professional Practice Model and the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, the RN plans, implements, evaluates, and communicates all phases of care for assigned patients. The RN provides leadership through precepting, formal and informal leadership, and quality improvement efforts; delegates care according to staff skill and experience, patient acuity, fiscal accountability, and available resources; and may participate in committees or projects. A subset of employees may be required to drive a personal vehicle as part of their role. The position is eligible for TN sponsorship; successful sponsorship requires state licensure and VisaScreen or equivalent certification. New graduate nurses should apply through the Nurse Residency Program posting rather than this position.
