About The Position

New York Imaging (NYI) is seeking a Registered Nurse for its Interventional Radiology team in New Hyde Park. The nurse supports radiology procedures, including CT and PET/CT scans, and provides patient care in collaboration with healthcare professionals. The role includes monitoring and documenting patient status, supporting patients and families, providing education and discharge instructions, and documenting treatment and medication responses. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts, Tuesday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; Monday is a regular day off.

Requirements

• Valid New York State RN license.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of standard precautions and ability to use appropriate PPE when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
• Reliable transportation to travel to NYI locations for patient care needs.

• Proficiency with an electronic medical record (EMR).

Responsibilities

• Start and maintain IVs for radiology procedures, including CT and PET/CT scans.
• Monitor and chart vital signs, weight, and height.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals and share expertise and knowledge.
• Conduct cancer research to enhance treatment protocols assigned to cancer patients.
• Provide supportive resources to patients and families.
• Teach patients and families about treatment expectations.
• Continuously observe and record patient progress.
• Chart patient responses to treatment and medication.
• Complete the medication administration record (MAR) after treatment.
• Provide patient-specific discharge instructions and emergency contact numbers for aftercare.
