About The Position

New York Imaging (NYI) is seeking a Registered Nurse for Interventional Radiology in New Hyde Park. The RN supports radiology procedures, including CT and PET/CT scans, and collaborates with healthcare professionals to provide patient care. The role includes patient monitoring, education, documentation, and discharge support. The schedule is four 10-hour shifts, Tuesday through Friday, between 7:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.; Monday is a regular day off.

Requirements

Valid New York State RN license.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Excellent assessment, communication, and organizational skills.
Knowledge of standard precautions and ability to use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when administering cytotoxic agents and handling bloodborne pathogens and bodily fluids.
Reliable transportation to travel to NYI locations for patient care needs.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
Ability to sit for prolonged periods while working at a computer, as well as stand, bend, and reach.

Proficiency with an electronic medical record (EMR).

Responsibilities

Start and maintain IVs for radiology procedures, including CT and PET/CT scans.
Monitor and chart patients’ vital signs, weight, and height.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals and share expertise and knowledge.
Conduct assigned cancer research to enhance treatment protocols for cancer patients.
Provide supportive resources to patients and families.
Teach patients and families about treatment expectations.
Continuously monitor and record patient progress.
Chart patients’ responses to treatment and medication.
Complete the medication administration record (MAR) after treatment.
Provide patient-specific discharge instructions and emergency contact numbers for after-care.
