About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on Hauenstein 2, a 16-bed, multi-specialty stepdown unit dedicated to patient-centered care. The unit cares for a diverse and complex population, including medical-surgical, oncology, trauma, and sepsis stepdown patients, providing enhanced monitoring and clinical support. This fast-paced, collaborative environment supports nurses in strengthening clinical expertise and developing their careers with an experienced team.

The role involves advanced patient assessment and monitoring, clinical decision-making, and collaboration with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, pharmacists, and other nurses. Nurses contribute to patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.

This is a full-time day-shift position with three 12-hour shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, and an every-third-weekend rotation.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited nursing school and program.
• Associate's degree in nursing required.
• If hired in Grand Rapids with an ADN, enroll in a BSN program within six months of hire and complete it within four years of hire.
• Licensed in the State of Michigan.
• BLS certification.
• ACLS certification at hire or within six months of hire.
• Experience as a registered nurse is required.

Responsibilities

• Care for complex medical-surgical, oncology, trauma, and sepsis stepdown patients.
• Perform advanced patient assessments and monitoring.
• Use and develop critical-thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
• Manage stepdown patients and provide appropriate clinical support.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, pharmacists, and fellow nurses.
• Contribute to improved patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
