Registered Nurse - Multi- Specialty Step Down
About The Position
The Registered Nurse will work on Hauenstein 2, a 16-bed, multi-specialty step-down unit dedicated to patient-centered care. The unit cares for a diverse and complex population, including medical-surgical, oncology, trauma, and sepsis step-down patients, providing increased monitoring and clinical support. This fast-paced, collaborative setting offers the opportunity to develop clinical expertise and support patient outcomes alongside an experienced team. The role is full time, working three 12-hour day shifts per week, from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM, with every-third-weekend rotation. New graduate nurses are directed to apply to the residency program.
Requirements
- Graduation from an accredited nursing school and program.
- Associate's degree in nursing required.
- Licensed in the State of Michigan.
- BLS certification.
- ACLS certification at hire or within six months of hire.
- Experience as a registered nurse required.
- In Grand Rapids, nurses with an ADN must enroll in a BSN program within six months of hire and complete it within four years of hire.

Responsibilities
- Care for complex medical-surgical, oncology, trauma, and sepsis step-down patients.
- Perform advanced patient assessments and monitoring.
- Build expertise in managing step-down patients and strengthen critical thinking and clinical decision-making.
- Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, therapists, pharmacists, and fellow nurses.
- Contribute to improved patient outcomes through evidence-based practice.
