About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides inpatient nursing care in the Carolinas Medical Center: Mercy - Nursing: 6 South department. The role uses the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate care, and engages patients and families throughout the continuum of care. The nurse monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, mobilizes resources, and collaborates with the care team to influence outcomes while promoting a culture of safety and evidence-based practice. The position may include administering medications, treatments, and therapies in accordance with clinical protocols; delegating appropriately; maintaining accurate and timely EHR documentation; and floating to other units, departments, care areas, or facilities within the designated service area as needed. The nurse provides age-appropriate care and applies knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan. This full-time role is scheduled 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., 36 hours per week.

Requirements

Graduate of a Board of Nursing-approved nursing education program.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Active registered nurse (RN) multistate compact and/or single-state license with privileges to practice in the state(s) where providing client nursing services.
Typically, 1 year of clinical nursing experience.
Strong clinical judgment and critical-thinking skills.
Time-management, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Proficiency in computer functions, including email, electronic records, and digital platforms.
Ability to meet the stated physical requirements, including frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting; supporting 35 pounds; pushing or pulling with 30 pounds of force; and performing a 150-pound sliding transfer with a second person present.
Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch, and fine hand-manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures or functions.
Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines and perform physical safety interventions, including patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.
Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient or unit conditions.
Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment when necessary due to possible exposure to chemicals, hazardous waste, blood, body fluids, and communicable disease.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN).
Additional education, training, certifications, or experience based on specialty may be required.
