About The Position

The Detroit Medical Center Registered Nurse (RN) is a member of the Patient Care Services Team and is responsible for satisfactory completion of nursing care by the nursing team. The RN manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families, using independent judgment and communicating and collaborating with team members, including ancillary and support services. The role encompasses leadership, partnership, collaboration, teaching, and supervision. The RN reports directly to senior unit management and participates in shared decision-making activities.

The role is with Children’s Hospital of Michigan, an international leader in pediatric and adolescent medicine with specialized surgical, imaging, emergency, trauma, burn, critical care, rehabilitation, neonatal, and perinatal services.

Requirements

• Graduation from a school of nursing.
• Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Michigan.
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and other health care providers.
• Delegate, assess, provide, and evaluate patient care.
• Provide and delegate patient care activities to team members.
• Monitor patient progress and prepare patients for discharge.
• Report directly to senior unit management and participate in shared decision-making activities.
