About The Position

The Registered Nurse Triage role in the Allergy Clinic assesses patient inquiries received by telephone, determines the severity of symptoms and medical needs according to triage algorithms, and guides patients to the appropriate level of care. The nurse may schedule appointments with appropriate healthcare providers, facilities, or physicians; document triage information and patient education in health record systems; and record patient health conditions for follow-up care. The role also maintains and develops triage protocols, ensures healthcare information is updated on time, responds to inquiries using department-specific technologies, and educates patients based on incoming calls.

Requirements

• Hold an unencumbered RN license with the State Board of Nursing where nursing practice occurs and/or possess multistate licensure if practicing in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
• For telephone nursing practice, hold licensure in the states where the patients being served reside.
• Complete all requirements to obtain the license needed for the role within the first 30 days of employment.
• Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.

Nice To Haves

• Graduation from an accredited nursing program, including programs accredited by AACN, ACEN, or NLN CNEA.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• One year of healthcare experience.
