RN, Registered Nurse - Medical/Surgical - General Surgery
About The Position
The Registered Nurse provides care on the 42-bed Medical/Surgical–General Surgery Unit at Mount Carmel Grove City, serving patients undergoing general, orthopedic, neurological, and bariatric weight-loss surgery. This is the only unit in the Mount Carmel Health System that performs bariatric weight-loss surgery. The department emphasizes teamwork and provides a 12-week orientation period. Within the scope of the Ohio Nurse Practice Act, the RN delivers patient care that is sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. The RN collaborates with the care team and is accountable for delivering care through the Nursing Process in accordance with organizational standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines. This is a full-time position with three 12-hour night shifts per week and every third weekend.
Requirements
- Graduate from a school of nursing.
- Hold a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Ohio.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care and promote patient safety, evidence-based practice, quality initiatives, and professional nursing practice consistent with the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program model.
- Assess and evaluate care for an assigned group of patients using evidence-based practice.
- Collaborate with patients and families to develop and implement plans of care that address physical, spiritual, and educational needs.
- Communicate pertinent information accurately and promptly to appropriate team members, and keep patients and families updated.
- Document pertinent patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and completely according to applicable standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Accept responsibility and accountability for care provided and documented by other licensed and unlicensed caregivers, as appropriate.
