About The Position

VitalHire is hiring a per diem (PRN) Registered Nurse for a Neuro Stepdown unit at a short-term acute care facility in Marrero, Louisiana. PRN nurses select available shifts through an app, with instant confirmation. Shifts are 12 hours and available on days (6:45 a.m.–7:15 p.m.) or nights (6:45 p.m.–7:15 a.m.). The hourly rate is $48.75.

The nurse will coordinate and deliver patient care, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, promote a safe environment, communicate changes in patient condition, and support continuity of care and patient education. Epic charting experience is required.

Requirements

• At least one year of acute-care experience in the specialty within the last five years.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Active, unencumbered Louisiana RN license or compact license.
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
• Active ACLS certification required for the listed applicable departments, including stroke units.
• Epic charting experience.
• Negative TB test within the last 12 months.
• Hepatitis B series or titer.
• MMR series or titer.
• Tdap vaccine within the last 10 years or titer.
• Varicella series or titer.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize, coordinate, and delegate patient-care activities.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide appropriate direct patient care.
• Maintain and advocate for a safe environment.
• Monitor and communicate with patients, families, and care team members about significant events, changes in condition, questions, and concerns.
• Prevent and treat wounds.
• Follow Joint Commission infection-control and environment-of-care requirements.
• Promote continuity of care, efficient throughput, consistent communication, and a positive patient experience.
• Consult a supervisor when assignments or tasks cannot be completed promptly, effectively, or safely.
• Initiate patient and family education using appropriate resources and continuum-of-care services.
