About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct clinical patient care and is responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing care for assigned patients on a per-shift and unit basis. The role supervises staff to whom care is delegated and supports the CNO in ensuring high-quality, safe, appropriate nursing care, clinical staff competency, and effective resource management related to patient care.

The RN coordinates and integrates patient care using the nursing process, follows established safety, risk-management, quality-improvement, and infection-control standards, and plans care within the prescribed medical regimen. The position also carries out assigned Hospital Incident Command System responsibilities during emergencies or disasters and must know the Hospital’s emergency codes and follow the associated policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Graduate from a state-approved or accredited school of nursing.
• Hold the license, certification, or registration required by law, regulation in the state of practice, or policy.
• CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, safe, cost-effective, total nursing care to patients.
• Coordinate and integrate patient care based on the nursing process.
• Direct care according to established safety, risk-management, quality-improvement, and infection-control standards, with the goal of discharging patients after providing an optimum level of care.
• Coordinate and plan patient care within the prescribed medical regimen.
• Perform HICS responsibilities, assignments, tasks, and roles as directed and needed during emergencies or disasters.
• Know the Hospital’s emergency codes, their purposes, and the appropriate actions, and follow the Hospital’s policies and procedures for each code.
• Perform related duties as required.
• Supervise staff to whom appropriate care is delegated.
