About The Position

The Registered Nurse works on a 22-bed Med Surg Telemetry unit serving general medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including patients with pneumonia, ESRD, stroke, CHF, chest pain, and multiple comorbidities. The unit also cares for postoperative patients, including GU, urology, orthopedics, bariatrics, and Heart Cath/PCI patients. Patients may be admitted or transferred from the ICU, ED, and PACU. The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing services under general supervision, using a patient-centered approach and creating a caring environment focused on healing and wellness. The role follows the nursing process of assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation, applying critical thinking and creativity in clinical decision-making. The nurse follows hospital and department policies, procedures, standards, and practices, and provides care appropriate to patient needs and the department’s scope of service.

Requirements

Current RN licensure recognized by the Kentucky State Board of Nursing, or current RN licensure or a temporary Kentucky work permit.
Associate Degree in Nursing.
Completion and maintenance of BLS.
ACLS and PALS (or ENPC) within 6 months of hire.
NIHSS within 3 months of hire.
Successful completion of all competencies identified on the departmental nurse competency grid.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Responsibilities

Delegate nursing care activities and provide supervision.
Establish and maintain a plan for the delivery of nursing care.
Ensure nursing interventions and activities are directed toward resolving patient problems.
Perform technical aspects of nursing care competently.
Follow hospital and department policies and procedures, nursing standards, and practices.
