About The Position

This is a contract travel nursing position in a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at an acute care hospital in Apple Valley, California. The NICU serves approximately 190 births per month, and the facility has 212 staffed beds. The nurse may be asked to float to the Mother-Baby unit to care for babies; nurses with couplet care experience may be eligible to float fully. On-call is not required.

The position is onsite and scheduled for night shifts of three 12-hour shifts, 18:00–6:30. Nurses work every other weekend, though weekend requirements may exceed that to meet unit needs. Block scheduling is unavailable, and the facility may call off one shift per two weeks. All requested time off must be submitted with the application and is subject to facility approval. Scheduling requests related to outside employment will not be considered. Orientation hours are billable for preferred profiles.

Requirements

• Active RN license.
• At least 2 years of RN experience.
• At least 1 year of NICU specialty experience.
• Proficiency with the Epic charting system.
• Ability to float to the Mother-Baby unit; couplet care experience is needed for full float eligibility.
• BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification.
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification.
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the United States; visa sponsorship or sponsorship transfer is not available.
• First-time travelers are not accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a Level III NICU.
• Float to the Mother-Baby unit to care for babies as needed; nurses with couplet care experience may float fully.
• Work every other weekend, with the possibility of working more frequently to accommodate unit needs.
• Follow facility scheduling policies, including submitting all requested time off at the time of application.
