Registered Nurse NICU

CommonSpirit Health•Lehi, UT

About The Position

The Registered Nurse works in the Women’s Services department at Holy Cross Hospital-Mountain Point, which includes 10 LDRP rooms, one triage room, six OB/GYN rooms, and four level 2 nursery beds. The department delivers an average of 85 babies per month at 34 weeks and above. Nurses work shifts as mother-baby nurses and specialize in either labor or the level 2 nursery. Assignments may change from shift to shift or during a shift, so flexibility and teamwork are important. Staffing is generally one nurse to one labor patient (or one to two for cervical ripenings), three mother-baby couplets per nurse, and one nurse to two level two nursery babies; ratios may change with patient acuity. The department supports learning, national certification, and participation in instructor roles, Shared Governance, councils, and projects. The RN facilitates communication and collaboration among the healthcare team and the patient and family to meet physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. The nurse promotes patient health, well-being, and safety through the nursing process, follows patient-care standards and the State Nurse Practice Act, and demonstrates accountability for relationship-based care and the organization’s mission. The role includes assessing patient needs, evaluating responses to care, developing and implementing plans of care with the interdisciplinary team, performing therapeutic and diagnostic interventions, maintaining accurate confidential records, using information technology to support care, advocating for patient rights and safety, and educating patients and families.
