About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care in accordance with the healthcare organization's established policies, procedures, and protocols. The role is in the Cardiovascular ICU Stepdown department at UAB St. Vincent's East. Multiple schedules are available: full-time day or night shifts consisting of three 12-hour shifts; full-time weekend day or night shifts consisting of two 12-hour shifts on Saturday and Sunday; and PRN day shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts.

Requirements

• Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
• Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established organizational policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Implement and monitor patient care plans.
• Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
• Coordinate care as the primary coordinator across disciplines.
• Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
• Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
