About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to adult behavioral health patients in the Behavioral Health, Geriatric department at Saint Mary of Nazareth Hospital. The position is full-time, overnight, with a 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. schedule and rotating holidays and weekends. A $10,000 sign-on bonus is available to qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply, with details discussed during the interview process.

Responsibilities include treating patients; educating them about mental and medical conditions; providing advice and emotional support to patients and/or family members; leading therapeutic groups; responding to psychiatric crises; and managing seclusion and restraint of patients. The RN records medical histories and symptoms, helps perform diagnostic tests and analyze results, operates medical machinery, administers treatments and medications, and supports patient follow-up and rehabilitation. The RN also teaches patients and families about managing illness or injury, diet and exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and physical therapy, and performs other related duties.

The role requires a current, valid state Registered Nurse license, current BLS certification upon hire and maintenance of that certification, and working knowledge of mental health laws and practice standards, interdisciplinary treatment-team processes, behavioral health programming and daily nursing functions, and the behavioral health continuum of care.

The estimated compensation range, including estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58. Starting compensation is determined during hiring based on factors such as skills, experience, education, credentials, and licensure.

Requirements

• Current and valid State license as a Registered Nurse.
• Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
• Working knowledge of Mental Health Laws and practice standards.
• Working knowledge of the interdisciplinary treatment team process, behavioral health programming, and daily nursing functions for inpatient and outpatient behavioral health units.
• Working knowledge of the continuum of care for behavioral health care.
