About The Position

The Registered Nurse in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) provides specialized nursing care to patients who require closer monitoring and more complex care than patients in a traditional medical-surgical setting. The role involves caring for higher-acuity patients while working collaboratively with physicians and an interdisciplinary team. It offers an opportunity to develop clinical judgment and expertise in acute care.

Requirements

Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Current RN license or eligibility to practice in Wisconsin.
Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Provide safe, individualized nursing care to patients with complex and changing healthcare needs.
Perform comprehensive assessments and continuously monitor patients for changes in condition.
Recognize changes in patient status and initiate appropriate interventions or escalation of care.
Safely administer medications, IV therapies, treatments, and other interventions according to established standards.
Monitor patients requiring increased observation and specialized care.
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care.
Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments, medications, and ongoing care.
Respond appropriately to urgent and emergent patient situations.
Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans.
Promote patient safety and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Support the orientation and development of new staff and nursing students as appropriate.
