About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides professional nursing care for SIH patients in the Emergency Department at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. The role is based in Carbondale, Illinois, and is a full-time night-shift position. Compensation is $31.25 to $49.06, commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Associate, diploma, bachelor’s, or master’s degree in Nursing.
Current Illinois Registered Nurse license.
Current CPR/BLS card.
ACLS certification within six months of hire for the Emergency Room.
Ability to meet the role’s clinical responsibilities; technical experience is listed as not applicable.

Responsibilities

Assess patients to determine mental, physical, and spiritual needs.
Establish a compassionate environment that provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and families.
Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual plans of care in collaboration with the multidisciplinary health care team.
Provide health teaching and counseling to promote, attain, and maintain patients’ optimum health.
Use clinical judgment and critical thinking to recognize, act upon, and report changes in patient condition.
Complete accurate and timely documentation in patient medical records.
Provide input into the development of policies and procedures that support patient safety and quality of care.
Supervise and delegate responsibilities to licensed practical nurses and/or unlicensed assistant personnel.
Advocate for patients by communicating and collaborating with other health service professionals.
Complete required education, competencies, and licensure on time.
Float to other SIH nursing units within the nurse’s competency level.
