About The Position

This is a 13–26-week contract assignment in the Main Operating Room. Contract roles are designed with a strong focus on conversion to permanent employment; extensions may also be available based on business needs and mutual interest.

Under general supervision and in accordance with established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines, the Registered Nurse delivers nursing care to patients in the operating room and other areas of perioperative services across all patient populations. The nurse functions as a circulating or scrub nurse, as assigned, during operative and other invasive procedures and throughout the perioperative continuum, within the scope of practice, credentials, privileges, experience, education, and verified competency. The role assists with robotic and general surgery cases and carries out duties in accordance with Tampa General Hospital’s mission, vision, values, and quality-improvement principles.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Two years of perioperative RN experience.
• Level I Trauma experience.
• Neurosurgical experience.
• Orthopedic experience.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in perioperative nursing (CNOR) preferred.
• Scrub experience strongly preferred.
• Robotic experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver nursing care to patients in the operating room and other perioperative service areas across all patient populations.
• Function as a circulating or scrub nurse, as assigned, during operative and other invasive procedures throughout the perioperative continuum.
• Assist with robotic and general surgery cases.
