About The Position

Indiana University Health is seeking passionate, experienced nurses to join its team. The Registered Nurse will work on the Medical Stroke Unit at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Indiana. The newly remodeled, 25-private-bed unit delivers compassionate, high-quality care through a multidisciplinary team of nurses, physicians, patient care assistants, case managers, and secretarial support staff. The care team treats acutely ill medical/surgical patients, with a primary focus on patients affected by strokes.

The unit is a Primary Stroke Center, has NIHSS-certified staff, and participates in a national research study. Its culture emphasizes mentorship, professional development, teamwork, and quality care. New graduates receive six weeks of orientation. Nurses can develop skills in end-of-life care, patient and family advocacy, critical thinking, and foundational nursing.

Requirements

• Associate of Nursing (ASN) degree required; Bachelor of Nursing (BSN) preferred.
• Graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program is required. Candidates from programs that are not nationally accredited may be considered if they have more than two years of acute care experience, subject to review and approval by the Chief Nursing Officer.
• Current Indiana Registered Nurse license required.
• Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association required.
• Other Advanced Life Support certifications may be required depending on unit or department specialty and patient care policies.
