About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) ICU provides patient care by assessing, diagnosing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care through outcome identification and evidence-based practice. As an integral member of the healthcare team, the nurse coordinates care and collaborates extensively with team members, patients, and patients’ families or significant others while maintaining high standards of professional ethics. The position is based on-site at Virtua Health’s Voorhees location and works a full-time 12-hour night shift, totaling 36 hours per week. Previous critical care experience is required.

Requirements

Previous critical care experience.
Knowledge of nursing skills, hospital practices, procedures, and standards.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to coordinate the efforts of a team of care providers.
Valid New Jersey RN license, presented and maintained in accordance with the State of New Jersey Licensing Board.

Responsibilities

Assess patients and develop, implement, and evaluate plans of care.
Administer, monitor, and document therapeutic interventions and regimens.
Effectively manage rapidly changing situations.
Participate in clinical decision-making.
Educate patients and their families or responsible parties about disease processes, individual care needs, wellness, and safety.
Delegate and monitor care provided by other members of the nursing department and healthcare team.
Demonstrate standard precautions and patient safety principles in practice.
Participate in orientation, education, and development of the healthcare team.
Identify and participate in performance improvement activities.
Maintain professional and departmental competencies.
