Across all levels, the registered professional nurse is responsible for the direct and indirect total nursing care of assigned patients and for supervising assigned personnel. The position requires knowledge of department and hospital policies and procedures relevant to nursing care delivery. Interpretive skills, frequent interactive and consultative associations, and management and supervisory skills are inherent in the role. The ability to retrieve, communicate, or otherwise present information in written, auditory, or visual form is essential. Spoken communication is the primary method of expressing or exchanging ideas; written, telephone, and manual dexterity skills are also required. The float pool role requires a Virginia Department of Health Professions Registered Nurse license or Compact State Nursing Licensure, and BLS certification. Designated units require specific certifications. Nurses new to a practice area or new graduates have one year to complete specialty requirements. ACLS is required for the Float Pool and other listed units. Current ACLS or PALS certification satisfies the BLS skills requirement under policy, so a separate BLS certification is not additionally required when either certification is current. VHC Health offers eligible employees a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, along with additional wellness and retirement benefits. Compensation is determined using factors including qualifications, training and experience, skill level, applicable shift differentials, internal equity, and market conditions. VHC Health states its commitment to wage transparency, equitable pay practices, equal opportunity, and a drug-free workplace.
