About The Position

The Caris On-Call Registered Nurse provides hospice nursing care according to physician orders and is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care and nursing care plans. The position is normally scheduled on weekends and/or after-hours on weekdays. The RN makes patient visits as scheduled and may resolve some concerns by phone; many after-hours or weekend calls require an in-person visit. The RN must remain available for work-related phone calls throughout scheduled on-call hours and accept calls directly unless assisting a patient or speaking with a patient or family. Requirements

Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of operation.
Nursing experience required.
Sound knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and elements of patient and family teaching.

Nice To Haves

Experience in hospice or home health is preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide nursing care to patients according to physician orders.

Make patient visits each week as scheduled.
Resolve patient or family issues by phone when possible and make visits when needed, including for many after-hours and weekend calls.
