About The Position
The Week Night On-Call Registered Nurse provides hospice nursing care in accordance with physician orders. The nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates total patient care and nursing care plans for each patient. The role is normally scheduled on weekends and/or after hours on weekdays. It includes scheduled patient visits and responding to work-related calls during scheduled coverage hours; some issues may be resolved by phone, while others require a visit.
Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of operation.
- Nursing experience is required.
- Must have sound knowledge of nursing principles, procedures, and patient and family teaching.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in hospice or home health is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients according to physician orders.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate total patient care and nursing care plans for each patient.
- Make scheduled patient visits each week.
- Respond to work-related phone calls throughout scheduled after-hours and/or weekend work hours, without allowing calls to go to voicemail except when assisting a patient or speaking with a patient or family.
- Make patient visits when after-hours or weekend calls cannot be resolved by phone.
