About The Position

Bronson Methodist Hospital is hiring Registered Nurses for its Operating Room team. OR nurses provide care in the area’s only Level I Trauma Center, working with interdisciplinary teams to support patients with complex and critical surgical needs. The posting includes opportunities for experienced OR nurses and, through a Surgical Nurse Internship Program, licensed RNs transitioning into surgical nursing who have at least two years of clinical nursing experience. The internship provides classroom instruction, structured learning, hands-on surgical skills training, clinical experience with experienced teams, and development of critical-thinking and specialized nursing competencies aligned with current standards and best practices. Under general supervision and in accordance with organizational policies, procedures, guidelines, and the Michigan Public Health Code, the RN manages patient care throughout the stay to support quality outcomes and timely discharge. The nurse uses the nursing process, coordinates and delegates care as appropriate, provides physical care within professional scope, and documents and communicates patient responses, resource use, and anticipated needs. Direct-care employees must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. The role involves variable shifts. Internship participants begin with eight weeks of standard 8-hour daytime shifts, then transition to second shifts with weekend responsibilities; they also complete one week on third shift. As training progresses, interns participate in buddy call and then a first/second-call rotation. Call typically occurs one week out of every four. The posting also describes after-hours call on a rotational basis for Scrub RNs.
