About The Position

Bronson Methodist Hospital is hiring Registered Nurses for its Operating Room team. Nurses provide care in a collaborative, patient-centered environment at the area’s only Level I Trauma Center, caring for patients with complex and critical surgical needs. The posting welcomes experienced OR nurses and, through the Surgical Nurse Internship Program, eligible licensed RNs transitioning into surgical nursing. The internship includes classroom instruction, structured learning, hands-on surgical-skills training, clinical experience with experienced surgical teams, and development of critical-thinking and specialized nursing competencies aligned with current standards and best practices. The internship starts with eight weeks of standard 8-hour daytime shifts, then transitions to second-shift schedules with weekend responsibilities. Interns also complete one week on third shift. As training progresses, they participate in buddy call before moving to a first/second call rotation. Call typically occurs one week out of every four, with approximately one to six weekends worked during the program. Under general supervision and applicable organizational policies and professional standards, the RN manages patient care throughout the stay to achieve quality outcomes and timely discharge. This involves the nursing process, coordination and delegation of care, providing appropriate physical care, and documenting and communicating patients’ responses, resource use, and anticipated needs. Employees providing direct care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served. For scrub RN duties, the nurse prepares supplies and equipment, anticipates the needs of physicians and the surgical team, monitors the operative field and patient, maintains appropriate equipment handling, supports colleagues with specialty equipment and implants, and takes rotational after-hours call. The role may require scrub duties across multiple services.
