About The Position

Registered Nurse serving in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) float pool. The position has a 1:5 nurse-to-patient ratio and does not have a home unit. The nurse floats among approximately five Medical/Surgical Intermediate and PCU departments and may float to other Metro campuses as needed, within their scope of practice. Duties may include holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit. Weekend scheduling requires eight weekend shifts during each Saint Luke’s six-week schedule period, in a combination of Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts. On-call work and block scheduling are not required or accommodated. Guaranteed hours are three shifts per 13 weeks; cancelled shifts must be the regular shift length assigned to the contractor personnel.

Requirements

• 1 to 2 years of experience required.
• BLS certification required.
• NIHSS certification required.
• Experience in MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and neuro stepdown settings.
• Skills in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and on-unit telemetry monitoring.
• Skills related to pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care, sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID.
• Home address must be at least 75 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted.
• Pending license is not accepted.
• No more than 7 days of RTO.

Nice To Haves

• ACLS certification preferred.
• Sheath removal.
• Feeding tube care and management.
• Accessing ports, blood product administration, and central line care/management.

Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care in Medical/Surgical Intermediate, PCU, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, and neuro stepdown settings.
• Float among approximately five Med/Surg Intermediate and PCU departments and other Metro campuses as needed, within scope of practice.
• Interpret and manage dysrhythmias and provide care involving on-unit telemetry monitoring.
• Provide pre- and post-cardiac catheterization care.
• Provide care related to sepsis, wound care, ETOH, SI, renal failure, AFIB, GIB, stroke, and COVID.
• Work holiday shifts and take Charge RN assignments as needed per unit.
• Work eight weekend shifts per Saint Luke’s six-week schedule period, combining Friday, Saturday, and Sunday shifts.
