About The Position

Registered Nurse position on 18 James, a 36-bed medical oncology telemetry unit with more than 24 beds dedicated to progressive care. The unit treats patients with solid tumors, orthopedic oncology conditions, and thoracic oncology conditions. It provides high-acuity PCU care and a small amount of medical-surgical care. Pediatric patients are extremely rare and are likely to be cared for by permanent staff; pediatric experience is not required for agency nurses. The role has a heavy focus on infection-prevention protocols and preventing patient falls. The schedule is a rotating 12-hour day/night contract. Nurses may be scheduled for days, nights, or a combination, depending on department needs. Assignments are reviewed every four-week scheduling period; changes are not guaranteed and depend on staffing priorities. Weekend shifts are variable. Nurses must float to units with equivalent or lower acuity. Staffing ratios aim for 1:4–5 in medical-surgical telemetry and 1:3 in PCU, but may vary according to unit needs. The unit uses B450 monitors, a GE telemetry system, bladder scanners, Alaris pumps, and Stryker beds. Care may involve continuous bladder irrigation, PCA pumps, and the clinical skills and equipment listed below. The posting offers a competitive salary with auto offer, professional growth and development opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. Parking permits are available for agency staff through CampusParc; options and costs are subject to change.
