About The Position

This is a contract travel nursing opportunity for a Registered Nurse in a 41-bed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Columbia, South Carolina. The unit provides care primarily to adult patients following traumatic injuries that typically require surgical intervention. Patients are hemodynamically stable, and the unit has telemetry monitoring capacity for up to 14 patients. The typical nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed. The schedule is three 12-hour night shifts, 19:00–7:30, for 36 hours per week. The contract is three months. Nurses work six weekend shifts per six-week schedule. A 16-hour orientation is non-billable. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer; visa sponsorship is not available. Flu vaccination is required with no exemptions; COVID-19 vaccination is not required.

Requirements

Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
AHA ACLS certification.
BCLS certification.
NIH Stroke Scale certification.
Telemetry (TELE) competency.
Ability to pass the mandatory medication test.
At least 2 years of experience is required for first-time travelers.
Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

Provide progressive care nursing for adult trauma patients following surgical intervention in a 41-bed unit.
Monitor and manage hemodynamically stable patients requiring telemetry monitoring; the unit can monitor up to 14 patients.
Care for patients with surgical-trauma diagnoses, including gunshot wounds and other penetrating injuries, assaults, motor vehicle crashes, and falls.
Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4, flexing up to 1:5 as needed.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary support teams, including IV Teams, Physical Therapy, Respiratory Services, Interpretation Services, Phlebotomy, Radiology, Social Services, Rapid Response Teams, Pharmacy, Transportation, and the Unit Secretary.
