About The Position

Desert Parkway is seeking a dedicated, flexible Registered Nurse to join its behavioral healthcare hospital clinical team, which provides compassionate psychiatric and mental health care to adolescent and adult patients. The RN delivers direct patient care, performs psychiatric nursing assessments, and helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. The position is on the day shift, 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

• Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Nevada State Board of Nursing.
• Current BLS/CPR certification.
• Ability to stabilize acute psychotic and non-violent crises using accepted intervention techniques.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of behavioral health experience.
• Charge Nurse experience.

Responsibilities

• Complete comprehensive physical and psychiatric nursing assessments.
• Administer medications and accurately document patient responses.
• Monitor patient safety, use de-escalation techniques, and respond effectively to behavioral or medical emergencies.
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
• Maintain complete and accurate electronic medical records in compliance with mental health laws and regulations.
• Perform suicide assessments and follow suicide precautions.
• Identify and incorporate each patient’s unique needs into a comprehensive, individualized care plan.
• Conduct patient rounds to support patient care and an environment that optimizes safety.
• Apply medication-management knowledge to support patient care and reduce the likelihood of medical or health errors.
