About The Position
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse delivers nursing care to patients in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting. The role uses organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, prioritize patient problems and needs, implement clinical nursing interventions, and develop and perform patient care plans to improve outcomes. The nurse helps ensure a safe and therapeutic environment while caring for a broad spectrum of patients, from short-stay cases to trauma. Working as part of an interprofessional care team, the nurse coordinates care across hospital departments, evaluates and revises care plans, and administers medications in accordance with applicable state requirements and organizational policies and procedures. The position is based in the Emergency Department at Springfield Regional Medical Center.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited associate degree or bachelor’s degree program in Nursing.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- BLS Basic Life Support or ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support and PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred at hire; must obtain the certifications from an approved source before providing direct patient care. ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
- One year of professional experience practicing as a Registered Nurse.
Nice To Haves
- Recent Emergency Department or Critical Care experience is preferred but not required.
- EPIC Electronic Health Record training is preferred but not required.
- BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications are preferred at hire, subject to the stated pre-care and six-month requirements.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team.
- Care for groups of patients in a fast-paced, high-intensity setting as part of an interprofessional team focused on individual patient and population outcomes.
- Evaluate, update, and revise plans of care to facilitate planned and expected outcomes.
- Serve as a point of contact for patients’ care coordination throughout hospital departments.
- Provide care to a broad spectrum of patients, ranging from short-stay patients to trauma patients.
- Administer medications safely in accordance with the State of Practice and organizational policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
