Registered Nurse (RN) - MICU

Advocate Health•Matthews, NC
•$38 - $57

About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care in a four-bed Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) delivering critical care services. The unit does not provide bedside dialysis or cardiac intervention; patients needing those services are transferred to appropriate facilities. The nurse uses the nursing process to assess, plan, diagnose, implement, and evaluate care, involving patients and families throughout the continuum of care. The role monitors patient conditions, adjusts care plans, collaborates with the care team, promotes safety, and evaluates outcomes. The position may involve administering medications and treatments, delegating care, floating within the designated service area, and caring for patients across age groups. The schedule is three 12-hour overnight shifts per week, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., for 36 hours per week. The nurse is expected to contribute to unit councils, professional governance, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice; communicate effectively with patients and colleagues; maintain accurate electronic health record documentation; pursue professional development; and practice ethically in accordance with the ANA Code of Ethics. The role requires an active RN license with practice privileges in the applicable state(s), Basic Life Support certification, and graduation from a Board of Nursing-approved nursing education program. Typically, one year of clinical nursing experience is required; two years of ICU experience is preferred. The work requires frequent sitting, standing, walking, lifting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting. The nurse must be able to lift and support 35 pounds, push or pull with 30 pounds of force, and perform a sliding transfer of 150 pounds with a second person present. The role may involve exposure to hazardous materials, blood, body fluids, and communicable diseases, and may require protective equipment and physical safety interventions. Advocate Health offers compensation within the listed pay range, which may depend on qualifications, skills, relevant experience, and training. Total Rewards include paid time off, health and welfare benefits, retirement offerings with an employer match, educational assistance, family benefits, and career development programs. Eligibility may depend on employment status or FTE.
