About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Registered Nurse (RN) at Norfolk General Hospital's Medical Specialties Department, in Norfolk Virginia. A sign-on bonus of up to $20,000 is offered for qualified candidates. The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible to perform a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care- teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas. All Direct Care RN's are required to have BLS within 90 days of hire. The Medical Specialties Unit is a 42-bed unit recognized for its achievements and contributions to safe, high-quality care. The diverse patient population includes conditions such as CHF, Sickle Cell, Renal Failure, Vascular, Sepsis, COPD, Pneumonia, Osteomyelitis w/ Surgical Interventions, and Wound Care. The unit utilizes EPIC integration for efficient data input and maintains communication through walkie-talkies, fostering a teamwork model.

Requirements

  • RN Degree
  • Virginia RN License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required within 90-days of hire

Responsibilities
