Registered Nurse (RN) Medical Surgical Unit
About The Position
This Registered Nurse position is for the Medical Surgical Unit at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Effingham, IL. The role involves establishing a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families. The nurse will promote and restore patient health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams, and supervising assigned team members. Key responsibilities include promoting patient independence by setting care goals, educating patients and families about their condition, medications, and self-care, and answering questions. The role also ensures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes, making adjustments as needed, and following nursing philosophies and standards of care.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited and approved school of nursing accepted for licensure in the state of practice is required.
- Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) in state of practice is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) is required.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Experience in healthcare is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Establishes a compassionate environment by providing emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families.
- Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, and supervising assigned team members.
- Promotes patient's independence by establishing patient care goals, teaching patient, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, and self-care skills, and answering questions.
- Assures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, making or recommending necessary adjustments, and following nursing philosophies and standards of care set by state board of nursing, state nurse practice act, and other governing agency regulations.
