About The Position

The Registered Nurse on the Mothers/Baby Unit provides compassionate, family-centered care to mothers and newborns. Working with the multidisciplinary care team, the RN supports the well-being of both mother and baby, assists with breastfeeding, and helps new mothers build confidence and connection with their newborns. The role calls for empathy, compassion, nursing knowledge, and a commitment to creating positive experiences for new families.

Requirements

• Current nursing license to practice in Louisiana, as defined by the Louisiana State Board of Nursing.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• PALS certification required within six months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment by implementing infection-control practices and complying with regulatory standards.
• Perform technical procedures safely and efficiently according to department protocols and legal requirements.
• Participate in performance-improvement initiatives, quality-improvement activities, and review or audit processes while following organizational policies and procedures.
• Use the nursing process—including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation—to provide comprehensive patient care.
• Coordinate and delegate patient-care activities and communicate clearly with interdisciplinary team members.
• Collaborate with team members to identify and implement improvements to patient care and education.
• Provide positive customer service and address patient concerns or complaints through the service-recovery process.
• Maintain current nursing knowledge and skills through professional development, continuing education, and participation in professional organizations.
• Share knowledge and skills with team members and assist in alternative areas when needed.
• Provide compassionate care and assist with breastfeeding.
