RN - Registered Nurse - CVICU Stepdown
About The Position
The Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham is an 8-bed stepdown unit caring for patients recovering from cardiac, thoracic, and vascular surgeries, as well as heart catheterization procedures. The unit provides telemetry monitoring and advanced post-operative management and serves as a transition between the CVICU and other acute care units. This role offers nurses an opportunity to develop their nursing skills and cardiovascular expertise. The Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care according to the healthcare organization’s policies, procedures, and protocols. The position is available in full-time or part-time day and night schedules at UAB St. Vincent’s Birmingham.
Requirements
- Currently licensed or eligible to be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the Alabama Board of Nursing.
- Diploma from an accredited school or college of nursing and professional licensure at the time of hire.
- BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certifications are accepted.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures, and protocols.
- Implement and monitor patient care plans.
- Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition as appropriate.
- Coordinate care across disciplines to support well-coordinated patient care.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
- Assess and coordinate patient discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team.
