About The Position

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to provide high-quality nursing care in a fast-paced Stepdown unit. The 28-bed unit cares for adult patients with mixed medical/surgical, cardiac, and stroke cases, with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:4. This is a high-flow unit with frequent admissions, transfers, and discharges. The role requires strong clinical skills, telemetry monitoring, and a collaborative, proactive approach to patient care.

The position includes 12-hour night shifts, with six weekend shifts in a six-week schedule and holidays on a rotational basis with permanent staff. New hires complete a structured orientation with a classroom component followed by practical, unit-specific shifts. Navy blue scrubs are mandatory.

Requirements

• At least 2 years of experience in a nursing role.
• Active ACLS certification.
• Active BLS certification.
• Active NIHSS certification.
• Ability to read and interpret telemetry.
• Ability to manage multiple admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Stepdown unit.
• Administer medications and monitor patient responses.
• Titrate drips as necessary, including Heparin, Octreotide, Insulin, and other IV infusions.
• Collaborate with the charge nurse, who may take assignments as needed.
• Support nursing aides and patient care technicians on the unit.
• Use specialty equipment, including Code Carts, LUCAS Machines, hoyer lifts, and Sit and Stand devices.
• Interpret telemetry data and maintain vigilance in monitoring patients.
• Manage multiple admissions, transfers, and discharges efficiently.
