About The Position

The CHESS Team Registered Nurse provides nursing care to a wide variety of patients across the Cayuga Health System. The nurse works as part of a nursing team providing direct care to a specific unit and may be reassigned to another unit during a shift based on census, acuity, and operational needs. The role is designated to train and work in various facility areas while providing safe, therapeutic patient care. This is an onsite, full-time day position at Cayuga Medical Center in Ithaca, New York, with three 12-hour shifts per week and less than 25% travel expected.

Requirements

Associate’s degree in Nursing.
Valid New York State RN license.
BLS, ACLS, and/or PALS certification; these may be obtained during orientation.
Organization, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
Ability to work independently, make decisions, meet deadlines, multitask, and solve problems.
Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role, including repetitive use of hands and fingers; lifting and carrying loads up to 40 pounds; stooping and kneeling; sitting, walking, or standing for extended periods; and operating equipment used for the job.

Nice To Haves

Critical care experience.

Responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing plans while considering the patient’s and family’s individual, cultural, ethnic, and religious values and beliefs.
Educate patients about diagnostic procedures, medical conditions, and treatment plans.
Provide nursing care in assigned areas using defined competencies and skills.
Learn new responsibilities and train and work in various areas of the facility to provide safe, therapeutic patient care.
Work within a nursing team and move between units as needed to meet operational requirements.
